About First Call Care
Our team in Cornwall comprises highly qualified and experienced health and social care professionals who have supported both organizations and individuals to achieve their maximum potential through management, training, development, and care provision. Together, we have over 45 years of experience in various healthcare settings, including specialized residential care for adults, children, and young people with learning disabilities, elder care, education, and traditional domiciliary and home care services.
The Philosophy of the Organisation
Our philosophy is to support the delivery of high-quality care services to every customer by well-trained team members. We are committed to the promotion of Care as a Career. We support companies to continually improve the quality of care and support delivered by supporting its delivery by highly trained professionals. We guarantee not to sell you training that you do not need. We use a partnership approach to deliver the training you require.
Associates
All of our trainers are well-qualified care and/or medical professionals with a wealth of experience. We only work with people who maintain their practice within their chosen sector and so ensure we are current with the ongoing changes the providers we support face every day. Our clinical courses are taught by an accident and emergency-trained specialist to give added benefit to course participants.
Our Training Courses
All of our courses can be externally accredited by national awarding bodies. The courses we deliver are based on the best practice protocols in place at the time of the delivery. We write all of our courses to meet the needs of the individual company we are working with.
All of our courses are delivered using the minimum PowerPoint slides but rather interactive, multimedia methods to ensure we reach as many learning styles as possible. We want all participants to have an enjoyable learning experience in order they can transfer their learning back into the workplace. If the course does not meet your needs we will re-train it free of charge. We enjoy working with people of all ages and have the ability to deliver fully funded Apprenticeship awards that are currently free of charge. We work from early years settings through to children and onto adult settings and have assessors that will work with, mentor and encourage the staff members of the future.

Denis Winder – Registered Manager
Hi, my name is Denis and I taught and trained police officers prior to my retiring from the police service in 2003 having completed almost 27 years of service. Following my retirement from the police, I moved to Cornwall. Having joined the police at the age of 18 it was great to start a whole new full-time career in the care sector.
I have experience working in many care settings. I have worked in both Domiciliary and specialist Residential Care Settings in a number of roles including Registered Manager. In 2014 I commenced trading as First Call Care Solutions Limited. In 2016 I registered Continuum Care (Cornwall) with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). I pride myself I in the fact that we work in partnership with other businesses and delivered the highest quality learning experiences as are possible. We distinguish ourselves from other companies that ‘Train’ people as we see the value in being ‘Educators’. We want learning experiences to be educational, developmental and instructional whilst being fun, interactive and available to all, especially as we come across high numbers of people who have poor experiences of learning at school.
We are looking to support people to recognise that care is a lifelong career and it brings everlasting rewards to all when done properly. I registered Continuum Care (Cornwall) as I want to see the individuals that we support know, and believe, that they can be:
- Likeable
- Capable
- Unique
- Valued
I believe we can learn from our association with other sectors, including the hospitality sector, and so open our courses to them to share our learning and development opportunities.
